I hope this is the right place to post this ......... if not sorry anyway

is there a reason uniobjects and unirpc cannot be turned on in the trail version of universe?  I understand this is to test drive the system and what not, as I am thinking of trying to sell universe with several applications (that I am developing)  but it hard to do when I cannot develop it fully.

I have a c# application (developing) that can use couchbase , ms sql, mysql and I would like to add universe as the back end database (there are non production version  and in the case of mysql free versions I can use to demo the application) and then based on which the want or their price point, (how powerful a server they are willing to purchase , how many users etc .....I can recommend a database for them to use.

i would LOVE to add pick as a database option (universe and jBase) but I need to be able to connect to a system to test (and develop) before I can think about offering it.  I did look into purchasing a universe license but I do not see any reason you'll could not offer a trial version with uniobjects and uv.net enabled, I am sure there are others besides myself that would find these features enabled useful as well when evaluating universe.

anyway its just a suggestion as price of uv can sometimes be cheaper than a sql or nosql solution.

something to think about

Doug,

The unirpc daemon should be running.  What is the version of the trial version you are running?

Note that the version does expire.

i.e. The latest UniData trial expires in November 2023.

If you do not have the latest Trial Version, you can go to the following site:

12.1.1 and your right I do see it running (my apologies) should uv.net then not work?  I dug a little more and see the following:

uvnetd: uvNet license not installed on remote machine

I am trying to develop/test a process to "deploy" code to another system via uv.net, yes I can use scp, rsync etc ...... but I am looking at deploying code and (pick) data items if its not possible I can extract the data items from universe to a linux dir send the data and then push it back into universe if I have to

but I would rather not unless there is no other choice, I did mention in previous posts I did look into purchasing 1 or 2 uviverse licenses while the price was not awful I would rather not until I I have a working system but if I must I must

anyway
thank you
