Hi,

I've installed Universe for Windows community edition.   I want to do a couple of things - install the Developer tools IDE and/or VS Code to edit BASIC programs, and, also test python code executing in Universe to utilise external python modules  and libraries.

I can get to the XDEMO account at the BASIC MV shell, and LIST PRODUCTS data.

I have tried and failed to connect the Basic Developer Toolkit. I cannot find what username/password to use. When connecting to my instance, what is the default username/password combination or should I set an account up and if so how ?  I think this will also help me connect up VSCode.

As a follow up question, I have  python module which I want to include in a python program which I execute in Universe.  Is there specific process I need to run in order to include this module for use ?  I tried to run pip install <my module.whl> but this did not seem t import my module.

Thanks -
Steve

Steve,

The user names and associated passwords used are whatever are configured in the Operating System as valid users. UniVerse does not maintain a separate a separate database of user credentials. The only variable in this respect is the Policy setting for users - whether they are automatically connected toa  directory, to an account, or are prompted doe an account or directory. The policy settings are covered in the Admin. documentation and are configurable using the Extensible Administration Tool (XAdmin). Though some tasks van be carried out by standard unrestricted  users, many functions require a local machine system administrator ID be used.

Beyond this, please ensure that whatever user ID is used that the O/S permissions are set to 'Full Control' including sub-directories' for the appropriate directory paths. As an additional note, when first connecting with any of the U2 DBTools an update to the latest versions of the supporting hoist progrsms occurs. An Administrator user ID is required for this to succeed.

There are  a number of examples of Python module usage in the XDEMO account on PP (Python programs) and PBP (Python Basic Programs) as well as a number of articles in the Rocket Knowledge Base and some additional material here https://www.rocketsoftware.com/u2-python-community-resources.

Hopefully this helps get you started.
