I can’t remember the initiation command to use instead of “uv” to enable multiple concurrent sessions.  Can someone help me?

Thanks, Dale

The software that allows you to use it that way is built-in to AccuTerm and wIntegrate, if you have Device Licensing. In UniObjects for Java, what we use for our software, it can be leverage their as well.

Well, I did modify the AccuTerm connection settings for “device licensing”; however, this is on a windows 11 system and so the batch file that gets executed when I log in gives the command “uv” and consequently I find that I get only 1 session.  I remember from my old linux customers that there was another command that I used to initiate UniVerse in their profiles that enabled the device licensing, that command was “uv and then a couple of other letters”.  I’ve tried everything that I could find in UV\bin without success.  I appreciate Doug’s answer but there is something else that must be done, either something I need to add in the AccuTerm .atsp or layout file to eliminate the need for a windows batch command or another initiating command within the batch file.  So I’m still limited.

Try `uvdls` as the launch command instead of just `uv`

Thanks Gregor,

Although “uvdls” was part of the linux installation of UV/bin it is not on my windows version.  I am now uncertain if that is because I improperly installed UniVerse or there is some other method.

Dale,

On Windows - as long as the database is licensed for Device Licensing and the client software supports device licensing then it “just works”. I noted however that you seem to be running a Windows/DOS batch file on connection? That would suggest that you are using the Windows telnet service and running a separate UniVerse shell from DOS and not using the UniVerse telnet service - and the Windows telnet service does not support device licensing. You can disable the Windows telnet service in the Windows “services” applet, alternatively you can change the port number used by either the Windows service (Windows registry) or the UniVerse service (use XAdmin).

I also recommend using Rocket’s Dynamic Connect for testing if all seems OK but it still does not work  as this will be sure to have the very latest Device Licensing libraries..

“uvdls” does not exist on Windows - using the UniVerse telnet service is the way forward.

Regards

JJ

Thank you JJ,

I am using AccuTerm to make my connection with secure shell, do I need to simply change my connection method to telnet in AccuTerm or am I limited to Dynamic Connect to connect to the UniVerse telnet server.

Dale,

Rocket license the Device Licensing DLLs to a number of other termulator providers. In order for Accuterm to use Device Licensing they would need to build this DLL and it;s functionality inside Accuterm. IF you have an option in Accuterm to use Device Licensing - or ot “just works” then you should be fine. Any specific queries on Accuterm would need to go to Accutern support though.

And yes - you will need to use the UniVerse telnet service, not the WIndows telnet service. Your license details should tell you whether the database is licensed for Device Licensing and for how many connections. You can use “bin\uvregen -z” from a  DOS shell using “Run as Administrator” inside the UniVerse “home” directory “uv”).

Regards
