Robert,

  1. Check you are not using a very old client - the latest can be retrieved as part of the U2 DBTools from https://rbc.rocketsoftware.com/ underI Respurces -> Product Availability -> U2 DBTools -> Download column (link)
  2. Check the firewall - port 31438 by default - is open or temprarily turn off the firewall as a test. If using SSL then 992 by default - but assuming not and we won't consider certificates and SSL configuration.
  3. Make sure the RPC service is running - process list in Windows or 'ps' on Unix.
  4. Try to telnet to the RPC port from thesystem console as root (unix) or a local machine administrator - not a domain administrator or user with local machine rights (Windows). e.g. telnet 127.0.0.1 31438 - you should at least get 'connected' but nothing else. Use  Ctrl ] and exit to close.
  5. If it works locally then try from a  client system - if (3) worked and you still get failures it's a firewwall.

SO - if the service is running. if the firewall rules permit. If the user name used has local machine administrator rights in their own right. If so then it should work,

JJ

Hi Robert!

If you search the forum for that error number, there's a post from 2022 with a fairly extensive response from Jonathan Smith.

Hope that helps!!
Brian

thank you John for all the information

Christian Bristow from Rocket Support Team helped me identify this issue and it was being caused by the

D:\\IBM\\ud\\include\\ud_database file having an incorrect path....
