I just migrated my cluster from vertica enterprise 6.1.3 to vertica 7.0.0.1.
Upgrade went fine, now tries to create a new DB.
Right after entering new DB name and password, adminTools just exits, saying:
adminTools failed to create an interface object

Thanks for helping

How many nodes in the cluster and on which node MC is running? And also make sure following ports are open
  Certain ports will need to be open for MC/node/db communication.
·         Port 5450:  MC access and node to MC;   access will need to be open both ways;
·         Port 5444:  MC to Node;  Node to Node;  access will need to be open both ways;
·         Port 5433:  DB connection;  access will need to be open both ways;

Hi,

All these ports are indeed open, this cluster was working fine before the upgrade.
It seems the upgrade process has ended with a file /opt/vertica/config/admintools.conf almost empty, no nodes at all were defined.
I rerun the upgrade with the complete host list on the command line, and it works fine now.

Hello Luc,

We've seen this issue reported in the past and it was caused by an empty admintools.conf file on a node where disk had run out of space. The resolution was to copy a good admintools.conf file to the other nodes. Glad you were able to re-run the installation and resolve the problem.

Thanks,
Rory
