Hi Bernard,

We tested Attunity integration. However, Attunity replicate had limited support whenever using Vertica as source. As Vertica does not have log based support, therefore, applying the changes to the target database requires customization on the source schema to make it work.
Here is the link that will help - https://www.attunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/hpe-vertica-replicate-solution-sheet.pdf
Please reach out to me if you need more information.

Thanks,
Jawahar Annaldasula

Hello Jawahar,
Thanks for your feedback - much appreciated
If you could provide a bit more details re the customisation needed , in order to assess wether this is a sensible solution to do real time replication or not, and how much effort this requires to implement.
Regards
Bernard

Hi Bernard,
We have not tested the customize solution. However, based on the discussion with Product Manager, one has to define a timestamp column on every table that you want to replicate (for changes to be replicated) and configure that column in the Attunity replicate. This will enable to get changes based on the timestamp to another Vertica database.
Hope this help.
Thanks,
Jawahar.

Hi Jawahar ,
Ok I see , I just wonder why they haven't used the internal epoch column , which didn't require any changes ?
anyway , that gives me a simple answer to my question : Attunity replicate is not the solution to replicate from Vertica to whatever
Thanks
Bernard

Hi Bernard,

BTW: If you going to do a full refresh of data, than, Attunity Replicate is a good tool to be used. As I said earlier, there are change to the tables that you will need to be consider for incremental updates to be replicated.
The replication tools that are available in the market use database provide log based mechanism for pushing incremental changes to the target database. So, non of them support Vertica as source for incremental changes.

Hope this help.
Thanks,
Jawahar.
