We have been using RazorSQL, but noticed that there are several annoying issues with this tool when running against Vertica. Is there a "better" client to use? What do most people use here?

Hi!

  • DBeaver
  • DBVisualizer
  • TOAD
  • AquaStudio
  • SQuirreL
  • SQL Workbench/J
  • dbcli/vcli
  • vsql/psql
  • many others ...

I found the best support for Vertica RDBMS is in DBVisualizer:

PS:

  • Personally I prefer vsql.
  • A lot of customers uses in DBVis.

Yes dbvisulizer is best out all, but it is also had disconnection issues when load is very high servers. Vsql is a command line tool , not user friendly.

Any response from the Vertica employees on their tool of choice? DBeaver doesn't scale well

If is about scalability I would recommend DbSchema designer for Vertica. The tool is diagram-oriented and scales nice on large databases. The tool loads the schema locally, so you can deploy or compare with other databases, generate migration scripts.
Vertica database deisgner
One more free interesting tool you can find from the same company is dsql. Is a command line client. If you have to deal with multiple databases (can be also different Rdbms) can do some magic operations and save a lot of time.
