Hello Colleagues

We now have two Big Data & Machine Learning Meetup groups in the UK.

Our London one (with its 1,100 Members) has been running since December 2016, and we have just established our second group in Cambridge (73 Members and growing).

Having had to move out of our London HPE office of Aldermanbury Square, to mark our first Meetup in our new home of [Google] Campus London (this will be our #7 such event), and to celebrate our first Cambridge Meetup in the recently refurbished offices of one of our customers (Jagex), I am currently looking to find some high profile presenters / presentations.

If you know of any customers (or others) who you think may be able to deliver a presentation (or two) in either London and/or Cambridge, could you please let me know.

Further details of the events (past and future) can be viewed via the links above, or contact me if you prefer.

TIA
Mark

Hi. We have some solid SME's here in the Cambridge, MA (USA) office. I'll alert them to this post.

Hello Tom,

Thanks for commenting, though just to note, I am referring to Cambridge UK for Meetup presenters.

Though it's always great to have feedback from Cambridge USA :-)

Regards
Mark

Yes, I understood - Cambridge UK. I thought it made sense for the developers and Product Manager to be advised of the great work you're doing and the level of interest.

Let us know if you'd like to promote any activities on Vertica's social media channels.

Dear Meetup speakers!

Do also consider to have a talk at the Big Data & Machine Learning Meetup in Munich! We have set up the next Meetup on Sept 12 and are still working on the agenda.

Do not only stick to Cambridge (be it in the US or in the UK), do also come to Munich to present your talks!
We do offer a free tour to the best Munich beergarden!

This is our event page:

Happy to host you in Munich.
Dieter

TomM: Thanks for your positive feedback and flagging this up with Engineering and Product Management.

DieterC: Congratulations of setting up your first Meetup event - which I see is already at capacity. Let's hope we can sort out travel/accommodation to give you support on this venture.

SarahL: Let me know what you need from me to promote these events (London, Cambridge-UK & Munich). I presume this is via Everyone Social?

Our next London event on 19th September has reached capacity with 200 RSVPs out of 1200 Members signed up already. Our newer Cambridge-UK group has just 30 RSVPs out of 85 Members for its inaugural Meetup on 4th Oct - but as I said, this is a newly established group (~3 weeks old) and pulling from a smaller pool of potential members. Dieter's Munich group has been established for about the same time, had ~230 Members and has got a full-house for his first Meetup on 12th Sept.

However, we want want to continue to grow our Membership, promote future Meetup events and attract interesting and informative presenters/presentations, and although these do not have to be Vertica centric, we naturally prefer a bias towards it! So anything you/we can do to promote these Meetups would be great.

If you would prefer to take this conversation offline (or at least away from the Forum), ping me via email - mark.whalley@hpe.com (mark.whalley@microfocus.com ;-))

Regards
Mark

PS Apologies for the delay in replying to Tom & Sarah. I am still on holiday (on the Kennet & Avon Canal :-)) and getting a 3G/4G (even 2G) signal can sometimes be a challenge ;-))
