I download community edition vertica-7.0.0-1.x86_64.RHEL5.rpm.
The installation process is:
1. rpm -Uvh vertica-7.0.0-1.x86_64.RHEL5.rpm
2. /opt/vertica/sbin/install_vertica --hosts 192.168.126.155 --rpm vertica-7.0.0-1.x86_64.RHEL5.rpm --dba-user dbadmin --dba-user-password password --ssh-password developer --failture-threshod NONE
3. log in as dbadmin and execute /opt/vertica/bin/adminTools -t create_db -s 192.168.126.155 -d rella
The creation operation is failed and the error message is:
Info: no password specified, using none
Error: a database license has not been installed.
You must supply a valid license using the -l (--license) option.

Why I must supply a valid license when I use community edition?
Where is the valid license for community edition?

Hi

You don't require the license for CE edition. Will suggest you to kindly perform the below steps & let me know if still faces any issues.

1) run /opt/vertica/bin/adminTools
2) choose 7) advanced menu
3) choose 5) Upgrade License Key
4) submit a blank license key
5) create the database in either the adminTool or MC.

Regards
Rahul

Is there any silent way to do it? I need to write a script to install vertica and create database and schema.

I'm having a similar issue. I want to do a silent install and am providing the -l CE parameter as per documentation and produces an error.  I have also tried --license CE but without any luck.
