Can Vertica 8.0.1 be installed on LVM?

I know that Vertica doesn't support LVM on any directories where catalog and data files are located. However, can I install Vertica on LVM, i.e. /opt/vertica on LVM? I couldn't find any clear documentation on this. All documentation only stresses that no LVM support for catalog and datafiles, so from that I assume that its fine to install Vertica on LVM.

New in Vertica 8.1.1

"Vertica Analytic Database 8.1.x supports Linux Volume Manager (LVM) on all supported operating systems."

With restrictions see :

Francois, I understand that LVM support for datafiles and catalog is not available before 8.1.0. Again, my question is not about the datafiles and catalog directories, but where Vertica is installed, i.e. /opt/vertica. Can that path at least be on LVM with Vertica 8.0.1?

Thanks

IMHO, you can install on 8.0 at your own risk and may work just fine, however Vertica 8.1 was when we officially support the LVM file system. From a support prospective we may not be able to do a deep dive into any reported problems if the customer is running 8.0 and will most likely be asked to upgrade to 8.1. Hope this helps.

What OS? Vertica added support for Linux Volume Manager on RHEL 6.8.

"Vertica Analytic Database supports Linux Volume Manager (LVM) on all supported operating systems. Your LVM version must be 2.02.66 or later, and must include device-mapper version 1.02.48 or later. For information on requirements and restrictions, see the section, Vertica Support for LVM."
