Choosing between Vertica on AWS or HDFS?

Can you explain more simply - 1. Vertica on AWS and 2. Vertica on HDFS. How do I choose between these two if my customer already has data on Hadoop storage?

    The decision should be made based on strategy and economics.
    First, if the customer has an HDFS deployment, they may want to fully amortize their investment (or finish any contracts) before switching.
    Second, if the customer is an HDFS shop, they are already ramped up to maintain it. Managing Eon on HDFS will be incremental to their existing labor efforts.
    Third, switching from HDFS to S3 is a strategic decisions and should include more than just Vertica, they should have a plan that includes all the tools of their data lake/warehouse.
