I don't think the vertica client package has anything to do with the errors you are seeing. Clients are very simple packages that do not depend on much, as Jason showed. The vertica server package has more dependencies, but nothing like the ones you are having trouble with.

Are you using the R integration by any chance? R has many dependencies. I don't know what they all are but if there is any part of vertica with lots of external deps it would be R.

Kantor Millward Brown is upgrading RHEL 6.5 -> 6.10 as they upgrade to Vertica 9.0.1. KMB is running into a dependency issues around the opensm-libs for the minx-ofa_kernel; see message below. Any suggestions?
