We have a prospect who is using SpeedBase for manual input and massive data loading.
Any experience how to connect SpeedBase to work with Vertica?

Hi Moshe,

I checked and we haven't had any exposure ot it in Partner Engineering. Also read through the docs on http://www.infolinesoftware.com/help/speedbase_manual.pdf and it looks like:

  • Speedbase imports and exports from/to files only, exception is in V4 and up you can change the internal db from file to SQL Server
  • Speedbase doesn't seem to have any ODBC or JDBC or ADO.Net connectivity.

So the only thing that seems possible is to:

  • dump data from Vertica to a file and import to Speedbase after creating necessary schema
  • export data from Speedbase and then copy from file into Vertica.

Hope it helps,

Subject: Speedbase support Vertica

Dear Moshe,

Thank you very much for all your help to port Speedbase to Vertica.
As of today we are happy to announce that Speedbase support Vertica and users can connect Speedbase to Vertica.
From now on we offer Vertica users a Data Entry framework with an option to record business users’ inputs & updates into their Vertica database.
The solution provides a secured & consistent way to integrate data that does not usually exist or located on the source systems, and entered manually by the users.

With Speedbase BI tools users can build & deploy data-entry screens very fast to record their updates. This can include:
New business rules, such as new indicators, hierarchies and groupings
Setting permissions & access to the information or KPIs
Associating among different entities
Creating code-tables and matching descriptions
Control Thresholds measures (the “green & red” flags on their dashboard)
SpeedBase BI is also a great way to load data arriving by files from external entities (e.g. subsidiaries, business partners, suppliers, etc.) into Vertica.

All this, in a secured way while maintaining consistency and referential integrity.

You can share this information with your colleagues and customers.

Best Regards,
