Team,
Have and urgent question about HA - HW configuration:

  • Customer has 3 server rooms in Data Center, and want to place 11 nodes - in a following configuration 5/5/1 - to have N/2+1 available in case of Rack Failure to keep Cluster up and running. Rooms will be connected directly with the wire (switch will be in a rack in each room) - so network should not be an issue.
    questions:

  • is it a good approach to have servers in 5/5/1 configuration

  • How we should configure fault goups to avoid replicate budy projections into same fault group? 2 FG (5+6) or 3FG (5 + 5 +1)?

Thanks in advance for fast response!

Maciej,
2 FG (5+6) will not be fault tolerant if rack with 6 nodes go down.
Fault groups make sense with at least 3 fault groups or more. And with that, I think 3FG (4 + 4 +3) should be more obvious than 3FG (5 + 5 +1). Unless there was a specific reason for considering 3FG (5 + 5 +1).
