How to backup EON data on S3 without taking the DB down?

There is no backup for Eon in 9.1.x Will be coming to 9.2.

Not sure what is the exact status but you may need to reach out to Stephen W. And see if there is anything that can be done now.

This is very urgent for a customer who planned to move to production.

The documentation is not clear about this..

B/R on Eon mode is new in 9.2. It's being backported to 9.1.1 for the next hotfix and the doc will be backported too. It's not full support; you can back up and restore but can't do object-level backups and some other things. (And also no DB branches, but that wouldn't apply in 9.1.1 anyway.)

Vertica 9.1.1-4 now supports full backup and restore for Eon Mode databases. Backup and restore work the same way as in Enterprise Mode for the most part; Eon Mode has some additional requirements.
