We have ITOM DBs deployed on older Vertica versions using the Vertica AMI that was Amazon Linux version 2. The https://docs.vertica.com/24.3.x/en/supported-platforms/server-and-mc/ only say Amazon Linux 2023 is supported, not version 2, and "Vertica does not support or recommend in-place upgrades from one major version to another major version".
So what do Vertica experts recommend to update vertica 12 to 24.3 on AWS?

I tried to deploy a 24.x vertica AMI in the same VPC thinking maybe I could use copycluster to move the existing 12 itomdb to the new system, but I can't get vbr copycluster to work because ssh and scp require the -i parameter (keys) and vbr aborts "Error: Error getting cluster information from admintools."
