The latest stable release CentOS 8 suddenly has its life cut short to the end of 2021 instead of the earlier projected date of May 2029. The older CentOS 7 will still be supported till 2024.
The move to convert stable CentOS to CentOS Stream will discourage the use of freely available CentOS server. Feedback from Centos users show they plan to move to Ubuntu and not necessarily to RHEL.
Looks like the acquisition of RedHat by IBM will drag CentOS in the future to a similar place where Informix is today.
Question
In few years Centos is going to be not relevant for production environments
