In which cases can RLE encoding be efficient for a column that is not in sort order?

Hi team,
We have a customer using DBDesigner in both comprehensive and incremental modes. We noticed that in their projections there are many cases where DBD chose RLE encoding without using the column in the sort order, to my understanding, this can be counter productive in some cases.
Does any one know how and when the DBD decides to use RLE encoding without adding the column in the sort order?

    Hi @Hibiki , I'll have to check with the csutomer. They have many projections generated by the database designer with RLE encoding on non sorted columns. Any idea how DBD decides if RLE is efficient without sorting?
