Hello everyone,

We are experiencing some sporadic issues in running the LOGISTIC_REG function in Vertica 9.

In some cases, when executing the command:
SELECT LOGISTIC_REG ('model_oversampling_1', 'bank_oversampling_1', 'fraud', 'step, age, gender, amount' );

It gives this error:
ERROR 8306: Problem in creating model [model_oversampling_1].
Detail: A problem during the execution of writeModel.
Detail: Value exceeds range of type numeric(18,0)

It is not consistent, as it appears on a random basis and not always on the same logistic regression classifier present in the script. Also, trying with a BFGS optimiser does not seem to make a difference.

Do you have any ideas of what this might be? Should it be linked to memory limitations on the machine or could it be a bug on the LOGISTIC_REG function?

The issue didn't seem to be present in Vertica 8 but I'm not fully sure that this would never happen as it appears randomly.

Thank you very much!

Silvio

Silvio,
It looks like you are an internal user. Can you contact me directly? We need more information on how to reproduce this.
