The built-in Vertica INSERT function injects a character string into a specified location in another character string.
Example:
dbadmin=> SELECT insert('Vertica is AWESOME!', 12, 0, 'EXTREMELY ');
insert
-------------------------------
Vertica is EXTREMELY AWESOME!
(1 row)
