Take a look at slide 21 of this presentation by Etsy. It looks like they developed a tool called schlep to migrate data from PostgreSQL into Vertica and they said it would be open-sourced.
Has anyone used this tool? Is it available anywhere?

+1It was mentioned at the Vertica Big Data Conference in August that this may be making an appearance on the Vertica Community Marketplace "soon".
