Generally, to add more storage on a node, we would simply add more disks and create a new volume to present as a data location in Vertica. In AWS, we have the ability to resize existing EBS volumes. Is it best practice (in AWS) to expand existing EBS volumes containing Vertica data locations or add NEW EBS volumes and present them as a separate storage location to Vertica? I've done some digging and read that EBS can be expanded while the instance is UP, though probably best with at least Vertica DOWN. Everything so far suggests it is perfectly safe for existing data. What do Vertica Experts suggest?

yes the EBS volumes can be expanded easily in AWS, like always make sure to keep a EBS snapshot before adding or running the resizefs command.
