Hello team,

I would like to know if it is possible to deploy community edition on a cluster for testing its performance?
The customer downloaded Vertica community edition and he wants to set it up on a cluster and test it once.
It is very urgent, customer wants to get started with the enterprise edition as soon as he is sure that its performance meets our requirements.

Appreciate your prompt response.

Thank you and Best regards.

Hi,

Sure, you can install CE on a cluster of nodes. As long as that cluster is limited to 3 nodes and has < 1 TB of data.

The limitations of CE are listed here: https://www.vertica.com/try/

Access our free Community Edition for up to 1TB
Deploy on commodity hardware, or your choice of AWS, Google, or Azure clouds

  • Install Vertica on up to 3 nodes
  • Store up to 1TB structured and semi-structured (Flex Tables) data
  • Includes Vertica for SQL on Hadoop
  • Free for as long as you like with an easy upgrade path to a commercial license

If you want to test a larger cluster I can put you in contact with a sales rep. He or she would be able to issue a temporary licence to accommodate your evaluation.

Thanks!
