The Management Console was unable to connect to the Vertica database because port 5433 . Once port 5433 was verified and opened, MC connectivity was restored and the database became accessible. Port 5444 alone was insufficient for MC operations, as MC requires direct database access over port 5433 to query Vertica.
Environment
- Database: Vertica (Eon Mode)
- Vertica Version: v23.4.0‑13
Issue
Management Console was unable to query the Vertica database, and database startup/monitoring workflows were behaving inconsistently. Initial troubleshooting focused on catalog truncation, revive attempts, and node health, but the database remained inaccessible from MC.
Symptoms
- MC unable to connect to the Vertica database
- Database health and status not visible in MC
- Connection attempts from MC timed out or failed
- Port 5444 was open, but database client access still failed
