Recommended Software Update
OpenText is announcing the release of
Product: Analytics Database
Version: 25.2
Languages: English
The following new key features are available with this version:
- SELinux enhancements
- Provides a more secure environment for customers and meets elevated security requirements and expands Vertica's market relevance.
- Mutual TLS for K8s
- Mutual TLS for K8s project encrypts communication and authenticates both the client and server in Vertica K8s operator, also enables K8s operator to rotate HTTPS certs. This protects data and prevents unauthorized access.
- OAuth2 Token Forwarding
- OAuth2 Token Forwarding enables customers to allow Vertica UDx to pass the current OAuth2 token to an external service that Vertica UDx will be reading data from.
- GCLX Diagnostic Tool
- Identify, design, and implement APIs and tools to address GCLX-related system performance issues. Enable developers and customers to monitor cluster health and troubleshoot effectively and provide a robust cluster health monitoring tool.
- Iceberg Metastore Support
- Adds support for accessing external data managed by Iceberg Metastores that use REST Open APIs (e.g. Nessie, Tabular, Gravitino, Unity Catalog, etc.) This will enable Vertica customers to leverage Vertica’s core performance and drive revenue growth through wider adoption of Vertica’s Iceberg capabilities.
- License Audit Redesign
- This feature will allow customers to compare their uncompressed and compressed data sizes and will step towards an improved license auditing experience without slow and resource-intensive auditing processes.
- Kubernetes Auto-Scaler
- The new auto-scaler enables customer databases to automatically scale based on Vertica's native metrics, ensuring optimal performance for dynamic workloads. Separated scale-out and scale-in behaviors also provide greater flexibility and control.
- Stress tests on RealDB K8s
- This enhancement ensures the quality and reliability of the Vertica database in Kubernetes. K8s will also be more resilient and flexible.
- PG Compatibility
- Focus on tools like dbvisualizer or tableau that use these drivers.
- Variable Length Data
- Customers will experience significant memory savings utilizing out-of-line support, compared to fixed-length data structures by only allocating the necessary space for each data point. This is particularly useful in situations where data lengths can fluctuate considerably, leading to better resource utilization and improved performance.
- In VCluster UI Charts
- Database administrators will be able to easily see the database health and take action where necessary.
- Workload Replay
- In VCluster UI, users will have the ability to replay workload in a sandbox and compare the report so customer can test the effects of a system change without affecting the production system.
- Disaster Recovery Improvements
- When supporting in-database backup to other locations/clouds, customers are able to revive in the event of a disaster. This enhances both the VBR5 feature set (moving it closer to being a complete VBR substitute) and the replication feature, which requires an active destination cluster and doesn’t copy the whole state.
- Compute Nodes Improvements
- Compute nodes ensure much better scalability by being able to start quickly, carry only lightweight catalog (state), and not participate in commits and GCLX locking. At the same time, they are able to run the usual plans, effectively providing resource farms for query execution.
- VerticaPy transformation to OT product
- Convert VerticaPy github project to OT Data Studio product. It will be accessible via OpenText support download in order to comply with the OpenText directive and eliminate liability of open-source code.
