Vertica uses the Kafka client library librdkafka for all Kafka integrations. Prior to Vertica 23.4.0 hotfix 21 (23.4.0‑21), Vertica bundled librdkafka 0.11.6, which includes several deprecated Kafka APIs. Beginning with 23.4.0‑21, Vertica upgrades librdkafka to version 2.4.0, ensuring compatibility with modern Kafka clusters and avoiding issues such as deprecated API usage (e.g., OffsetCommit V1).
