Management console on Debian issues

Hi, I have a prospect that has just installed Management Console version 8.5 in Debian. When they connect to the console using their browser and login they only see a white screen - no other content in the MC. I found a Jira case on something similar suggesting setting "export LANG=en_US.UTF8" but it did not help. They've tried resarting and reinstalling the MC software but no luck.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before?
Thanks,
Mattias

I have the mconsole log, don't know how to attach it to a post?

I've seen this before, with Vertica 8.0.x on Debian 8.5, the MC just did not work, it was stated a little later in the documentation ; "Important: Vertica Management Console (MC) is not compatible with Debian 8.5." (again version Vertica 8.0.x doc in "supported platform")

This statement is not present in Vertica 8.1 and Vertica 9.0 documentation
So either, the stament is missing in the documentation and the MC (8.1.x or 9.x) still does not work on debian 8.x, or your prospect have installed version 8.0

It may be another problem of course

Francois

Hello Mattias,
Francois is correct about the statement "Important: Vertica Management Console (MC) is not compatible with Debian 8.5."
That statement appears in the Vertica 8.0.1 notes, but it does not appear in the 9.0 notes.
Narrowing this further, the statement appears in my saved 8.1.x notes, but is not in the (later) 8.1.1 notes.
If they are having difficulty installing MC directly on Debian 8.5, suggest they install MC on a separate server and then connect it to the Debian cluster
