Hi, we got a request from a prospect if older versions of CE is available for download - 7.x, 8.x and 9.0.

I guess it's possible to download from ftp://customers.vertica.com, but since this is a prospect they don't have access to that site.

What would you recommend?

Sorry but not sure what CE stands for in your question.

OK I got it Community Edition. Why wouldn't they be interested in the latest and greatest 9.x?

Fyi ... I asked the question about older versions of CE before and was told this:

CE downloads need to be tracked by our site so any CE downloads should only be done through the site. We shouldn't be giving them a download that they can't find on our site. The reason a file might note be on the site is because it is end of life.

CE is always only available for the current version. It would be interesting to know why a prospect would want to look at prior versions. They should be focused on the current offering. Of note, the docs are available for the older versions so feature and platform support comparison, if that's what they are after, can be done by downloading the docsets.

Totally agree on all of the above, could be that they need to make sure their version of software is compatible with other vendors (for example OEM, where they quite often don't use latest and greatest). This is why older versions of "regular" vertica is available.
