per query memory restriction?

Is there a way to restrict the amount of memory a single query can consume?

For example, say I have a resource pool with a number of queries running and everything works well - but then occasionally a query shows up with a lot of joins and chews up 120Gb of RAM by itself. This ends up starving everything else in the pool. Is there a way to restrict how much that single query can get without modifying the overall resource pool values?

Hi Curtis,
Would setting MAXQUERYMEMORYSIZE without changing the other RP parameters help?

This might not be what you want but you can set the MAXQUERYMEMORYSIZE in the resource pool if you are at 9.1. It was designed to help with what you are talking about.

That sounds perfect. Where is it? I don't see anything even remotely close to that in either confguration_parameters or vs_configuration_parameters.

Apparently I need to upgrade my sandbox. Looks like they added this in 9.1. That's cool. Sounds like yet another for Domo to upgrade.

Thanks
