We are working with a big prospect in Mexico who is currently using SAP Business Warehouse 7.5 Service Pack 1 running on Hana. They currently using SAP Infocubes and they are looking to migrate these cubes into an Amazon environment. Our sponsor has used Vertica in the past so he is confident in our capabilities, and is also looking to Redshift as an alternative. They are also using SAP BO Data Services as their ETL.
Our big question here is, how can we extract this cubes from SAP into Vertica?
- Can we transport the cube with all their business rules once created, as a Vertica table from SAP Business Warehouse?
- Or should we look into the SAP Hana backend database and transport the Extended Star Schema that supports the BW cube? Using this approch, what would be the effort involved into porting the current BW Queries that use the cubes into the star schema once in Vertica?
- Is there a way we can use SAP BO to transport the cube to Vertica?
Is this a viable alternative?
