One of our customers asked how to assign a specific resource pool to scrutinize.
I thought we can use the -U option in scrutinize to specify a user name which its RP is already assigned ,
As shown here: https://www.vertica.com/docs/9.3.x/HTML/Content/Authoring/AdministratorsGuide/Diagnostics/ScrutinizeSecurity.htm
However, scrutinize is unable to process the -U argument as shown below for Scrutinize Version 9.3.1-2:

scrutinize ‑U scrutinuser -P 'scrutinpassword' --begin=5m --by-second -m CustomerName_Issue_ErrorMessage
Error: Unable to process the following arguments
Extra argument: ‑U
Extra argument: scrutinuser
Please fix the above errors and call scrutinize again

Hi mosheg,
On my local VM(Vertica Community Edition 9.3.1), I start by creating a resource pool, create a new user, and grant usage of the RP to that user. After that I am able to call scrutinize with “scutinize -U scrutinuser -P ‘password’ -begin=5m --by-second -m SOME_ERROR_MESSAGE”

The generated Scrutinize file seems fine(I just joined the company, define "fine": it generated some scrutnize tar file :) ). I double checked with the parser in code, to reproduce the reported error(Unable to process the following arguments), what I did is make the arguments after -U invalid such as “- U scrutinuser” or “U scrutinuser” so the parser couldn’t read arguments properly. I am guessing the possible issue might be on the user name having an invalid character or maybe some encoding issue...? Not sure if this helps, but I am interested in resloving it.

Ref:
1. create resource pool: https://www.vertica.com/docs/9.3.x/HTML/Content/Authoring/SQLReferenceManual/Statements/CREATERESOURCEPOOL.htm?zoom_highlight=resource pool
2. create user:

My bad, Copy/Pasting an auto-corrected hyphen caused the script errors..
Thanks!
