We have bad characters in field VARCHAR like :
56553 �
The first value is the value returned by the function ASCII for the bad character.
My question is, how I can use the function REPLACE or other to change this character by an other, the place of this character can be anywhere in the field.

I am not sure I understand your example, nor why you are incorporating ASCII into your description of the problem.
Perhaps share possible inputs and expected outputs.
The problem is simple.
In the table, we have in a field load from a file and the accented letters have the format ASCII 56553 .
So, How to load a UTF8 file into a Vertica database ?
