Stability problem with ODBC connection

I am having a lot stability problems with connections to Vertica database from Windows via ODBC connection.

I have Vertica 6.0 ODBC drivers installed. I have no problem connecting to the database.

The problem is staying connected. I keep getting disconnected. All my users are encountering the same problem and they are very frustrated.

If I use a JDBC client and connect using the JDBC driver, I do not have such problem. I can stay connected the whole day. So I am quite sure the problem is not with the database or the network. It is the drive.

I end up relying on the JDBC drivers, but many users are using tools that still rely on ODBC connections.

Is this a known problem? Are there settings that can improve the situation?
