Vertica datasource plugin for Grafana?

Hi
Have any of you been successful in setting up Vertica data source plugin for Grafana?
I initially tried setting this up on Grafana 7.7 and the steps to add the data source just doesn't work (neither the CLI nor the copy to plugins directory). Later, I came across this link: https://www.vertica.com/kb/Grafana_CG/Content/Partner/Grafana_CG.htm. I picked the product and OS versions mentioned here to atleast get something running. Apparently this doesn't work either. Moreover, the Readme in the datasource plugin (https://grafana.com/grafana/plugins/vertica-grafana-datasource/installation) states setting up and building the complete Grafana to get the plugin working. Is this really how it is meant to be?

    Resolved via direct communications. The build of the plugin is only if you are going to customize it. Otherwise you simply download it, copy to your Grafana host, and uncompress the distirubiton to the /etc/grafana/plugins dir and in the /etc/grafan/grafana.ini add per the readme in the plugins section add "allow_loading_unsigned_plugins = vertica-grafana-datasource"
