Hello,
I installed Vertica using vertica-8.1.0-1.x86_64.RHEL6.rpm and need the vertica-R-lang-8.1.0-1.x86_64.RHEL6.rpm

Where can I download older versions of R Language Pack from? The download page only allows me to download the latest edition ( vertica-R-lang-8.1.1-0.x86_64.RHEL6.rpm )

Regards,
Vikram

I don't think there is a vertica-R-lang-8.1.0-1.x86_64.RHEL6.rpm version. There is an vertica-R-lang-8.1.0-0.x86_64.RHEL6.rpm release. I have the 8.1.0-0 RPM if you need it.

Noticed that it installs R version 3.2.5 (2016-04-14) -- "Very, Very Secure Dishes". We wanted to develop some R code using 'proxy’ and ‘arules’ packages; however, these packages require R version 3.3.2.

How do I upgrade to R version 3.3.2?

I wouldn't attempt to upgrade the version of R!!! Instead, install previous versions of the packages, i.e. ones that are compatible with R 3.2.5.

To do this you can use the "devtools" package to install previous versions of R packages ...

Example for installing "arules" package:

I am using CentOS.

Need some Linux stuff ... As root:

yum -y install libcurl libcurl-devel openssl-devel

In R:

> install.packages("devtools", repos='http://cran.us.r-project.org', dependencies=TRUE)

... all kinds of output ...

install_version("arules", version = "1.5-0", repos = "http://cran.us.r-project.org", dependencies=TRUE)

... all kinds of output ...

packageVersion("arules")

[1] ‘1.5.0’

These packages (proxy, arules) are not available for R version 3.2.5.; they depend on R > 3.3.2

install.packages("proxy")

    Warning message:
package ‘proxy’ is not available (for R version 3.2.5)

install.packages("arules")

    Warning message:

The commands you are using are trying to install the latest versions of "proxy" and "arules". Yeah, the latest versions are not available for R 3.2.5. But you can install slightly older versions of "proxy" and "arules". In my previous post, I provided an example of how to install "arules 1.5.0". Note that the current release of "arules" is 1.5.2.

Here is the release archive index for "arules":

Did attempt installing the older version of the packages using the command you shared earlier. However, was stuck with not having install_version

Sorry, I think I forgot to put the require(devtools) command in my earlier post!

Here is a better example in R:

require(devtools)

Loading required package: devtools

install_version("arules", version = "1.5-0", repos = "http://cran.us.r-project.org", dependencies=TRUE)

Downloading package from url: http://cran.us.r-project.org/src/contrib/Archive/arules/arules_1.5-0.tar.gz
Installing arules
'/opt/vertica/R/bin/R' --no-site-file --no-environ --no-save --no-restore \
  --quiet CMD INSTALL '/tmp/RtmpSYqsuv/devtools19f6a1c75a2f4/arules' \
  --library='/opt/vertica/R/library' --install-tests
