Hey, I want to install vertica but without adding any new dba-users.

I used :
/opt/vertica/sbin/install_vertica --hosts node01,node02,node03
--rpm /tmp/vertica_7.0.x.x86_64.RHEL5.rpm --dba-user mydba

but how i choose my exist linux user if i had one and not creating new instead?

Thanks, benny.

Hi Benny,

Interesting question. But i dont think that can work as the ssh would have trouble connecting to the different user ids across the cluster of nodes. I might be wrong though. Someone please shine the light on this.

In the above example, mydba can be an existing user. If the user does not exist, it will be created.

Nop, when i do it, i got "User is already exist." and the installation is cenceled.

When the user exists and it is not created as Vertica expects, you need to provide some additional information (see install doc) --dba-user --dba-group --dba-user-home
