Hi, I've tried to install the Visual Cobol, and the instalation file send me the next message:
"This application requieres Visual Studio 2010. Please install Visual Studio 2010 and then run this installer again"
But I have Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate!
Can somebody help me?

What link are you trying to install from?
Is it the Web Installer or the full download of Visual COBOL 2010?

Try the Web Installer, if you haven't already as this should recognize Visual Studio 2010 if it is already installed.

Are you installing to a physical computer or a Virtual Machine?

Thanks for reply, I've tried to install from the Web Installer and the full download from:

Visual Studio 2010 executable file (126MB)
visualcobol.microfocus.com/.../downloadweb.php

Visual Studio 2010 web installer (1.7MB) -
visualcobol.microfocus.com/.../downloadweb.php

In a physical Computer, and get the same error, do you know other way?

Hi Santo,

Could you please check if the environment variable %PATH% has the /bin diretory of Visual Studio 2010?

If you have this diretory in env. var. %PATH%, I suggest you reinstall the Visual Studio 2010 on your machine, or try to repair it. Some register entry could be missing...

Hi, I've reinstall the Visual Studio 2010 on my machine, and manually added the /bin directory to the environment variable %PATH%, and still have the problem,
Is there something else that I can do?

Using REGEDIT.EXE, can you supply an export of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\DevDiv\\VS\\Servicing\\10.0

Can you paste the contents of the .REG file that is produced?

The problem is that there is a codepage mismatch in the checks (3082 instead of 1034). Can you edit the reg file to just contain the following, and then import it.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\DevDiv\\VS\\Servicing\\10.0\\vstscore\\1034]
"Install"=dword:00000001
"InstallerType"="MSI"
"SP"=dword:00000000
"SPIndex"=dword:00000000
"SPName"="RTM"
"Version"="30319.01.25"


This should allow you to install, and you can delete the registry key after installation if you like. I will raise a bug report to this effect.

Can you create HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE(on 64-bit OS, \\Wow6432Node\\)\\Microsoft\\VisualStudio\\10.0\\Setup\\VS\\BuildNumber\\1034 with the value "10.0.30319" (as per 3082) and then try the installer?
