There are several examples in the Visual COBOL Samples browser.
From the Micro Focus Visual COBOL group on the Windows Start menu you can launch Samples.
Within the browser select native only in the dropdown and then select SQL from the left-hand column. The samples starting with OESQL are the ones for ODBC.
