If i download the R3 or R4 can these be installed to work with both VS2008 and VS2010? Or, will this only work on VS2008?
Will the R3 or R4 installation install the MicroFocus.COBOL.RunTime.dll and other required .dlls?
Visual COBOL 2010 R4 is the latest version so this should be used.
Visual COBOL 2010 will install only into Visual Studio 2010.
It will not install into Visual Studio 2008.
Visual COBOL 2010 is the development environment but it contains all of the Runtime files necessary to test your application on the development computer either from the Visual Studio 2010 IDE or from the command line.
If you wish to move the application that you develop to a different computer and run it then you need to install the COBOL 2010 Runtime product and have an appropriate license installed on that new computer.

Thanks for the feedback!!
Ok so if i install this R4 and develop a test code in c#/cobol.net proxy and native cobol code then deploy to a test server with SEE 6.0 installed or compatible server software then it should work fine?
Is SEE 6.0 both a client development piece and a server piece? Kind of like SQL server has a client install and a server install?
So basically my question is if i develop using R4 it will run on a SEE 6.0 (Server Express) server?
Also, if I install the R4 trial version for 30 days will there be issue removing or installing SEE 6.0 over it?
Thanks in advance!!

R4 is Visual COBOL.
SEE 6.0 is Studio Enterprise Edition 6.0.
COBOL programs developed in Visual COBOL cannot be run under SEE 6.0 and vice versa.
They have completely different run-time environments.
Visual COBOL and SEE 6.0 can coexist on the same computer as Visual COBOL installs into VS2010 and SEE 6.0 installs into VS2008 but they should not be used together in the same application.
Look at Visual COBOL as a replacement product for SEE 6.0 not a companion product.
If you are using CICS and JCL then you should not look at Visual COBOL at the moment as it does not support it.
