I'm working on connecting a Visual COBOL application using an ODBC driver, and we want the driver to recognize that the request is specifically coming from a Visual COBOL program. Is there any standard way to achieve this? For example, does Visual COBOL use any common executable file that the driver can detect to identify the source of the call? Or is there any recommended way for the driver to detect that the request is coming from Visual COBOL?

Hi Divya,
An application developped with whatever language uses the ODBC DSN and the ODBC driver being used is agnostic for the application like the application using ODBC is agnostic for the ODBC driver.
What's the need of the ODBC driver "to recognize that the request is specifically coming from a Visual COBOL"?
What do you try to achieve, knowing that the request is specifically coming from a Visual COBOL?
When there would ba a solution, it would imply the source code of the ODBC driver would have to be modified.... which implies the need of the ODBC source code...

Hi,
Yes, I understand that we would need to modify the driver code to achieve this. I just wanted to know if there's any specific executable that the driver could detect to identify that the request is coming from a Visual COBOL application.
