Micro Focus Visual COBOL version has recently been upgraded from version 6.0 to version 7.0 for our product.

In version 6.0, we had the patch 18 changes. We need to confirm if we need to add patch 18 after upgrading to Cobol version 7.0.

Will Micro Focus COBOL version 7.0 include the patch 18 changes?

V7.0 has a set of patch updates itself that currently go up to PU20. You should install the latest patch update for V7.0 to ensure that it includes all of the patch updates from a previous version plus its patch updates.

The current product release is V9.0 so 7.0 is several years old. If you are upgrading, why not upgrade to V9.0 instead?

Thanks, Chris! Currently, we have certified our product on-premises with version 7.0. Therefore, we have used the same version for the cloud migration as well. In the next release, we have planned to upgrade to version 8 instead of directly moving to the latest release, version 9, on-premises.
