The book is by Micro Focus, which is the previous owner of Visual COBOL. It references available materials at their website: http://www.microfocus.com/visualcobolbook. The book itself is copyright 2017 by Micro Focus. Following that link results in a 404 (page not found) error. Is there a current website that contains the materials related to the book?

Concerning murach’s mainframe COBOL, the book is copyright 2004, Mike Murach and Associates, Inc. It also makes references to Visual COBOL, but given the copyright date, I can see any links provided in that book as being more outdated than the Visual COBOL book. Is there a current website that contains any materials related to that book?

Is the Micro Focus book that you are referencing “Visual COBOL: A Developer's Guide to Modern COBOL”?  I don’t believe that link was rehosted to the Rocket website as the information in the book is most likely pretty outdated by now.

If you are looking for materials to help you learn Visual COBOL, then you might take a look at the Rocket Learn COBOL download and on-line course. Click on the Learn COBOL link on the Visual COBOL Personal Edition web page at Rocket® Visual COBOL® Personal Edition (formerly a Micro Focus® product) | Rocket® Software

This is indeed the book. I followed the link and registered for the course, but there are issues. First, I don’t use the Chrome browser (I use FireFox), and second, the materials links described in the introduction video are not in the pane to the left of the video pane. Who do I contact about this?

If you are taking the COBOL Fundamentals course there is a link to the materials on GitHub:

GitHub - RocketSoftware/cobol-fundamentals-training

You might also look at downloading Visual Studio Code and then under extensions, install the Extension, Learn COBOL. This has materials with it as well as links to an on-line course.

I have VS Code, but it is a separate application. I haven’t used it yet. I was able to get the VCTraining.zip file, but I can’t find the slideshow. I’m looking for it now.

OK, I found it. Instead of the downloadable presentation file(s), it’s built-in to the online tutorials.
