Visual COBOL for Visual Studio 2022 11.0.0 failing install on windows server 2022

This is a known problem that can occur if there are no workloads installed into visual studio, but you state that you have the C++ Desktop Applications installed, so I am not quite sure what the problem is.

Can you post a screenshot of the Visual Studio Help-->About Visual Studio screen?

You are using Visual Studio 2026 which is not yet supported in Visual COBOL 11.0. We are looking to support it in an upcoming patch update but for now you will need to find a version of Visual COBOL 2022 to use.

I am running 2026 community v 18.9.2 and would like to get visual cobol 11.0 up and running

any target dates or workarounds?

Visual COBOL 11 can be installed into Visual Studio 2026 beginning with Patch Update 5.

If you are using Visual COBOL Personal Edition, you can now download a version of the installer which supports VS2026, here.

downloaded again get same version 11.0.250.0, get same error

checking VS version that is installed

The zip file should include another installer named vcvs2026_110.exe that is used to install into Visual Studio 2026, but it appears to be missing.

I am looking into this.

I went to the PE 2026 download page from the link you included above but after I fill out the form and press submit, it asks me to Please Wait but nothing happens.  I have PE 2022, which isn’t working all of a sudden so I thought I’d try 2026...

yes I can confirm, download not working for me either, perhaps related to work Chris Glazier is doing to fix download to include the installer for VS2026

Hi Dennis, any luck finding and getting the download setup for VS 2026, hope it is not a major problem, and I know it is weekend :-)

We are still working on getting the new zip file put up on the download site.

I tested the actual registration process here, with both a corporate and a personal email address and I was sent the download email both times, so I did not have a problem with that.

If you have an ftp site that I can upload the file to, please send me a private message and I would be glad to do that, but I currently have no other means of sending the file to you as it is too large to email.

I have tried download again, this time with Wireshark running and time zone UTC, still no luck

What is the IP the download should come from? Is akamaiedge involved?

FYI, we have now replaced the download zip file for Visual COBOL 11.0 PE with a version that contains both an installer for Visual Studio 2022 and an installer for Visual Studio 2026.

I tested the download and it was successful for me using Edge.

Thanks for the update, Chris.  I uninstalled Visual Studio 2026 itself and now when I try to re-install it, it fails!  I’ll have to let you know once I get this problem fixed!
