If i download the free version of visual cobol personal edition can i use visual
studio free when I use this cobolversion ? or must i have a licence for it.

Visual COBOL Personal Edition is packaged with the Visual Studio Shell product which is a "free" version of Visual Studio that you can use without a license from Microsoft.
If you have no other version of Visual Studio 2010 installed on your computer then the Visual Studio Shell will automatically be installed along with Visual COBOL PE for your use.
