Visual COBOL for Eclipse is delivered with an integrated Eclipse installation. VC 2.2 runs on Eclipse 3.8.1

Eclipse 3.8.2 (32bit) is installed as part of the Visual COBOL 2.2 install process with all of the Micro Focus and required third party plugins all set up for you.  The Eclipse version is the full Java SDK version (a copy of the raw zip file (and all third party zips) can be found in the 'installer' directory of your COBOL product.

The plugins will also run quite happily on Eclipse 3.7.2 but you'll need to download the Eclipse SDK and install the various pieces manually.

There's nothing stopping you install the Micro Focus pieces into other versions of Eclipse that you've downlaoded from the Eclispe.org site (PDE version or whatever).  Just use the 3.8.2 versions.  Likewise, you shoudl be able to add in additional plugins such as the C features to the version we install at VC setup time.  The beauty (and drawback) of Eclipse is that it is very easy to add additional features.
