Uniface®

Note from admin: please post your questions in the Uniface User ForumHi all, I see for my application migrated to uniface 10, when the [SETTINGS] portion in ASN file is assigned with $sys_charset = UTF8, some of the characters in the application does not display as it should, rather shows some garbage character. But when I replace $sys_charset with $def_charset, all characters are displayed correctly. Going through the help document to uniface 10, I did not understand the main difference between $sys_charset and $def_charset. Hello everybody,in near future we have to switch from 32 bit uniface to 64 bit uniface (ide and runtime).So we just installed a 10.3.03.012 64 bit environment on a new machine. After some licencing trouble the runtime seem to work.But we're facing problems with the ide. It doesn't start and the logfile is stating a missing "uniface\\html\\panestrip.html".So I browsed through the 64 bit uniface setup files and figured out there's no "uniface\\html" folder inside (as it is in the 32 bit setup)I checked for example the swinuf10303012w64.exe, swinuf10303018w64.exe, swinuf100303w64.exeand even the latest 10.4 installation (swinuf10401018w64.exe)Okay... I've copied now the mentioned folder from the 32 bit installation and now I can start the ide.But... Does anybody know how the "uniface\\html" folder should be created (of course with it's content) during setup procedure? Explanation The debugger's preferences file UDBG.CNF (usually found in the working directory) could not be created or updated. --- I have it in the working folder.  Possible causes: the file has been locked by another application, or insufficient user rights to perform this action. -- how can I specify if it is locked by another app? Hi Everybody, we have an issue where I hope you might have a clue.We have moved our clients from local (Laptop) implementation to an RDS farm (Remote Desktop).The applications we run all work fine for almost all users, but for a few unlucky ones they fail to start and eventually come with an license issue.I know this is not the real underlying issue, it is just a result of not starting the application. From what I can see, is that for the applications that run the MAIN uniface screen is opened (uniface.exe) and kept open. for the ones that fail the uniface.exe screen actually shuts down.I have added a DEBUG to the application startup-shell and that starts up fine until it needs to open a connection (PATH), when it wants to start a form which is located on the Application Server. I have a COM Class DLL I've written in VB that I wanted to communicate with via calls in Uniface (call out from Uniface to the DLL).  The only way I could get the signatures to import was to have the DLL file in the uniface\\common\\bin directory, regardless of where the DLL was originally registered on the filesystem.  Additionally, I had to use the /pid switch in order to get the DLL imported.  If I then removed the DLL from the common\\bin directory, the calls to the DLL would stop working (-150).  Is there a way I can register the DLL to the system and call out to the DLL without hard coding the path somewhere or having the DLL in the uniface\\common\\bin directory?  The DLL itself is working, I just need to understand my options for placement on the system outside of the uniface file structure, like so many other DLL's and controls.------------------------------Tim ColvinSmyth Retail Systems Inc.Alliance OH US------------------------------

Is there a way to call the Windows Print Dialog box and have it return the selected printer and properties selected?In our switch to Uniface 10, we are exploring new reporting options.  Previously all printer queue selections went through our report controls, but those controls are no longer available.  I'd prefer to use native windows dialog boxes if at all possible.  All we do is select printers so we can pass them off to our reporting solution for printing.  There's nothing being directly printed in Uniface.------------------------------Tim ColvinSmyth Retail Systems Inc.Alliance OH US------------------------------

Hi Unifacers, What is the smartest way to convert plain text into an HTML tagged format via ProcScript only? In our case "plain text" means a text containing any word/character from languages: Italian, French, Spanish but also from any other nation around the Mediterranean Sea: Morocco, Turkey, Greece, Slovenia, Albania, Israel, Egypt, and so on ... so I can easily say any known language except Far Eastern languages. It doesn't seem to me that Uniface has a built-in function and even Javascript requires you to build an entire document and then extract the internal body. At the moment we've built a simple Uniface function converting: - Double Carriage Return to HTML paragraph - Single Carriage Return to LineBreak - Basic HTML entities (ampersand, greaterThan, lesserThan) to corresponding codes- All Other HTML entities to corresponding codes Thanks in advance for any tip / trick / suggestion! Hallo,I want to transform a xml to a json structure using xmlToStruct and structToJson. The xml contains multiple occurrences of an entity. But I didn't use a /schema swith so all attributes are elements. Converting to json gives an invalid result because de struct doesn't have tags as 'array' and 'object'. With a /schema and a schemaList parameter xmlToStruct is probably able to add the required tags.
