We have had a problem since updating uniface to ‘recent’ patches (16, 32, and now 42). The Global Search from the ADDITIONAL.uar appears to lock up and never come back. There is no progress indicator on the latest version (I’m sure it used to tell you where it was looking in U9...)
Is anyone else encountering this? Or do you not use it because XXX.
Please let me know if it’s working for you.

I did try replacing the uar file with the latest from the downloads, no change in behaviour.

Hey Unifacers, any chance of making the source more ‘open’ so I could have a hack at it?

Regards,

Iain

Hi Iain,

yes Uniface 9 had a statusbar where it displayed per message/hint where it searches.

Did you try to reduce the search to a single Form?

Then you should quickly see if the search is working.

Kind regards

Norbert

Hi Norbert,

It works for a single component, or a single entity and or a whole model. It’s possibly even working for all components, and model triggers, but it’s hard to tell whether it’s stopped or just being really SLOW.
We have our compiler create .lst output, and it was suggested to search those instead. I use Wingrep and it’s much faster to search the text output than the global search. Except that the lst files have all the defines/constants/includes expanded, so it’s harder to search for them directly.
I await the new repository and version control etc with bated breath.

Regards,

Iain

Hi,

I just tried it again, and it found the search pattern in a couple of the main component bodies, and then 25 minutes later, there was no more results, and I had to crash out.
