Any Update on the 10.3 / 9.7.05 delivery?Author: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) Adrian Gosbell said (30 May 2018) We are wrapping up the MS Visual Studio 2015 project, the product, DLM and the installer are more or less done and we expect both Uniface 10.3 and Uniface 9.7.05 to be released in the first half of July. (more details will be provided, but I know the question will be asked).    Perhaps we can get an updated delivery date / status info? TIA from Frankfurt/Germany, Uli

U10.3: first experiments on customizing IDE successfulAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) Hi U10.3 followers this week, I was concentrated to make the IDE Customization work. Success !! Tried to transfer options of OpenIDF (presentation 2008) and Codegeneration (presentation 2006) with the new possibilities after we have lost the ADDITIONAL menu. I already offered the german usergroup a presentation/demo on their Hamburg meeting. Have a nice weekend, Uli Prepared a tiny starter-kit where one can make his own experiences (ask me for a copy). A little more than the chapter in the Helpfile, as you have a working code to start with. May become the foundation of a "vanilla" workshop.

10.3. 003: UOBJ.TEXT field layout doesn't have UPCAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) In the now extended metadictionary, the field layouts of UOBJ.DICT do not have UPC for the keyfields. Makes entering profiles for a report a little harder. And the helpfile says: In Uniface 10, counters are treated as what they are—runtime data that can only be set and read in ProcScript using numgen and numset. The counter and initial value can no longer be set in a dialog. Why is this maintenance dialog no longer possible?

Test out of U10 component editor possible since F208Author: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) With patch F208, a hint in the Tutorial tutorialCompileTestForm_4CDB64256C6CC8E39931FC878DEC3BE4.html points to an important improvement for the experienced uniface codewriter used to the U9 comfort: It's possible now in U10 to test the component under edit straight from the IDF with the help of the ACTION menu ! Compared to the previous "start your process manually and retype the name of your ObjectUnderEdit", this will be seen as an improvement. But when we look at the convenience in U9, we may miss beside the "test" the "test with debug" option which is available in U9 UUEXTN23 as menu, accellerator CTRL+F8) and panel. As the new documentation _LOGICALS_IDE_testing_A011D3FF02E748F1965BB18402EC2801.html tells us in an example, we can modify the activation to include a /deb switch, but this is then used in ANY test. Modifications of the logical demands a rest

migration gives warnings when entries defined in triggers like RETSAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) since the very old days, entries were defined in triggers like RETS: entry RETS end ; RETS entry RETS1 end ; RETS1   In U10, the migration goes wrong: ;- [Start '<Retrieve Sequential>'] #startdefine #define $triggerAbbr=RETS trigger retrieveSequential entry RETS end ; RETS entry RETS1 end ; RETS1 end #enddefine ;- [End '<Retrieve Sequential>'] Phase  7:   Procs compilation (CSCR)                end (CSCR)  warning:   1000 - Proc statements occur after 'end' instruction. (CSCR)                end (CSCR)  warning:   1000 - Proc statements occur after 'end' instruction. (CSCR)                end

severe incompatibility when some entry statements are in blockdataAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) See the following example code in LPMX U9 and U10: (this is a real usecase since 2008) entry lp_FORMINIT ; this is not defined: call lp_LoadFunction ; so in the compile we get under u9 ; Phase 7: Procs compilation ; warning: 1000 - Module 'LP_LOADFUNCTION' not found. ; in U10, we got a strange ; Phase 7: Procs compilation ; warning: 1000 - Module 'LP_FORMINIT' not found. end ; lp_FORMINIT entry use_blockdata $1 = $block_text block_text:blockdata ~ entry component_docu params string p_docu : OUT endparams p_docu = "D:component-%%$componentname%%%/<xxxx_datstatus>/<xxxx_autor>/<xxxx_kurzinfo>" end ; component_docu entry lp_FORMINIT call lp_LoadFunction call lp_LoadFile call lp_InitLists end ; lp_FORMINIT ~   in the EXEC trigger, we call lp_FORMINIT as operation exec call LP_FORMINIT edit

Additional Menu - we want details on what you are using it for todayAuthor: adrian.gosbell@synapse-i.jp (Adrian Gosbell) There have been some discussions (buried in other threads) on the fact that Uniface 10 does not have the additional menu.  I've mentioned previously that we would look into this, and we are now starting this.  We want some details to know what you are using the additional menu for today. The implementation of menus, and therefore context is different between Uniface 9 and Uniface 10, so the more detail, the better. Those who gave me some details (and examples) at the UBG in Mannheim, you don't need to enter (unless you really want to).

Good News: unifields still work in U10Author: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) sometimes, on can only implement functionality with the help of unifields. A very popular one is to fill the windows clipboard with some text. This is done with a macro of some features only supported in unifields. I just transfered an existing application to 10201f108 and it's great to say: UNIFIELDS STILL WORK IN U10! Greetings from a colde Frankfurt/Germany morning, Uli

10.3 002: activate "OS".command returns -50Author: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) as a test, i just use the following line (10.3 002) activate "OS".command("cmd.com /c echo.1234 > ABC.TXT") but (no matter what I put in as a command text) i got a $status of -50 with a $procerrorcontext of "ERROR=-50·; MNEM=<UACTERR_NO_SIGNATURE>·; DESCRIPTION=Signature not found·; COMPONENT=TEST_OS·; PROCNAME=3\\DETAIL·; TRIGGER=DTLF·; LINE=2·; ADDITIONAL=INSTANCENAME=OS·!·; OPERATIONNAME=COMMAND" This test was started in the original project created during the U10.3 installation to reduce any customizing effects. Have I overlooked some necessities? And where (in which UAR) should this signature be located?

U10201f114 wrong migration of standard U7 error triggerAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) in U7, the fields error trigger is defaulted to: ; Include an "else" block like the one shown below at the end of any ; Proc written in this trigger. ; . . . ; else ;    message $text("%%$error") ;    return (-1) ; endif  the u1002f114 migration returns an error: (4\\ERROR)  warning:   1000 - Ignoring undeclare; trigger ERROR has not been declared yet. because this comment-only trigger is converted to: undeclare trigger error ; Include an "else" block like the one shown below at the end of any ; Proc written in this trigger. ; . . . ; else ;    message $text("%%$error") ;    return (-1) ; endif ; end

Tool to compare U9 and U10 components, alpha-testers wantedAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) Bug 31585 (http://unifaceinfo.com/fixes/issuelist/31585.php) describes the need for a U9/U10 comparison tool. I modified an inspection tool I already have created to monitor the development; which was part of the 2008 presented "Open Idf" (U7 - U9), took me some 4hrs to skim the necessary documentations which <$triggerabbr> will be converted to which trigger name. Now I have a tool which will suit MY needs; but perhaps other ones may require more. So I would like to find some other uniface customers who, like me use the "early adopters" to find out if the migration can handle their kind of coding, and are willing to "join the band" as alpha-testers and cooperators to expand the usability of this tool. Please contact me if you are interested improving the U10 toolset, Uli

Uniface 10 Enterprise Edition

maybe interesting for germansAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) Today, I found this event on XING: https://www.xing.com/events/uniface-first-class-1766554

on : Uniface 10 Tutorials Answers.zipAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) just had a first glance over the C/S application: I am missing a STORE button, is that intended?

ProcScript windowAuthor: knut.dybendahl@gmail.com (Knut) Working on a component, I have the default snippets hanging on the left side, component structure next to the snippets, then the script window itself. What bothers me is the fact that the snippets are not context sensitive to my selected object. For example, when foucssing on the component object itself, I can select and paste a read snippet, write snippet or even a next field snippet. It would be really nice to either gray out the snippets not relevant to the object I'm working on - or, if I try to paste the content of the snippet to a location it doesn't belong, I'm given a warning that I'm doing something strange.... Knut

wrong migration of $triggerabbr precompiler constant?Author: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) looks like there are problems in migrating $triggerabbr for 3-letter triggercodes: in U9, the constant had a trailing space ("RMO "), in U10 this is not the fact ("RMO"), so checks for these codes will fail in U10.

Windows positioningAuthor: knut.dybendahl@gmail.com (Knut) I'm running 4 screens on my desk - unfortunately, the "Define Frames" window will only operate in screens one and two (from the component editor). In other words, it is not possible to move the 'old form paint tablau' to any other screen than monitor 1 or 2.

questions and discussions on the Uniface 10 workshops

how to report ucommentAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) in U10, the ucomment is a rtf-coded text rather than plain text as it was before. If I use richeditbox toolbar=no, the printout in p_mswinx is ok. But how can I extract the plain text let's say to dump a couple of documentations to an external file? AFAIK, a couple of {rtf1 ...}{rtf1 ...}{rtf1 ...} will cause problems.

U10E: how2print doc out of the developmentAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) for those hardcopy lovers (addicts) like me: how can I print out of the IDE? let's say a copy of the doc. GOLD-P has no effect.

f105: looks like the editbox shows a pipe-character in grey instead of blackAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) 10201f105: it looks like the pipe character ("|") is shown in grey instead of black like the other characters. This will confuse endusers (like me)

U10f107 problem when importing an older export of a componentAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) I recently had to go back to an older export of a component I am working on. In the meantime, I had renamed a couple of fields. But after the reimport, I got key validation errors when I tried to rename the fields again.   I assume this is because the new records still exists in the database, but U10 isn't as tolerant as U5 - U9.

having a chart on my DSPAuthor: lammersma@hotmail.com (lammersma) Hi all,   I want to ask for some advise.    On my DSP I want to have a chart. I want to use chart.js (http://www.chartjs.org). But what is the best way to integrate it with my web application?   The data is built in a Uniface SVC. I prefer to have as much as possible on the Uniface side, so I don't want to have a full blown JS driven frontend.   For your info. I want to use this on a demo application for the Uniface community on Gitlab. So the info you can give might/will be used in an opensource application.    kind regards,   Peter
