Global Sort Option for select RDBMSAuthor: william-paul.philibert@telus.com (wpphili) Bonjour,    we recently upgraded from version 9.4 to 9.6 but more importantly from Sybase driver U2 to U4.  There is a major change in the way the driver handle request to the database.  Using the driver U2, there were index suggestion everywhere witch, in a way, took care of the sorting order of the result.  Now, with the driver U4, there are no more index suggestion, leaving all the decision to the database with an unwanted/unexpected result that rows fetch from the database are no more sorted and are displayed as is in the different forms. My question, besides going into each and every form to add "order by" clause, is there any way to have a global sort somewhere or anything else that could "easily" fix this behavior?   Thanks for your time, support and knowledge.   Regards, William P. Philibert

[SOLVED] Uniface 9.5 uobj copy errorAuthor: mcolli33@csc.com (mcolli33) I'm attempting to copy a newly compiled uobj to a database, yet when I run the command ("/cpy $ud6:uobj $ora:uobj") in the idf I receive the following error: "8066 - Copy failed: Open error on input file/table 'uobj'." I've expanded debug and can see that the command is complaining about no udesc.urr or uobj.dol files, so I created them using the /urr and /dol commands. The errors associated with those files then went away but now I am getting a "-1072 - IASM error The requested key value cannot be found". This is repeated at regular intervals throughout the log file. Please can you help.

how extend the READ statement?Author: i2stiller@gmx.de (istiller) Hi Just a "simple" question into the round: "how extend the READ statement"? background: We have to implement some kind of treatment on every read row from database. This includes DISCARDS if special condtions are envountered. Currently we ddo this by a global proc called after the READ in READ-trigger. My idea is to replace also the READ statement itself, so that there is (normal) only one line in READ-Trigger Before read call SO_READ_AFT() What I want is call SO_READ("") So far so good But what if you have to apply conditions and/or order directives? First idea was, to expand the parameter list of SO_READ by a few arguments like v_CONDITION, v_ORDER,  ... But there are two drawback Performance: On every "read" (not only "retrieve") I have to considerd parameters to use the correct READ statement Compile-time checks of the entitys and fields in q

Upopmail and gmailAuthor: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) One of our users is moving 'to the cloud' for their backoffice (except for our system),  so they have no exchange or other mail server. We are being asked to send mail via smtp.gmail.com.  To get the mails to send correctly from sql server, I have set up the server as smtp.gmail.com port 587, basic authentication, with a user name and password, and then am required to tick 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' before it will actually send.  In Uniface for Upopmail I have set the server name to smtp.gmail.com+587, and have tried all three authentication methods provided. The only one which says it can do encryption is the UAuthSSPISMTP driver, but this (and both of the others) is returning a -7 in the LogonSMTP operation, (server does not support security driver functionality).  Anyone know the magic settings to connect upopmail to gmail?

Best way to add many messages to a UAR file?Author: mmontealegre@commandalkon.com (mmontealegre) I am trying to get a huge number of messages into a UAR file.  The deployment archive editor seems to have an issue when adding more than 100,000 messages at the same time.  When retrieving all those messages in the editor it pegs out the memory and Uniface crashes.  I am currently going through the editor and just retrieving one language at a time (about 16,000 messages) and adding just that set to the archive.  This process gets slower and slower as I add each language, I am on my 3rd language now and it's taking 2 hours to add just it with 10 more to go.  Is there a command line that can be used for this?  I tried this statement urm copy $mss_rep:* NewArchive.uar:* but I just get an error that says "Cannot compile component definition".  I am working in a database repository that started with brand new and just imported my messages via the x

Is there a sample drag-and-drop example I can learn from?Author: justanotherprogrammer@hotmail.com (JEfromCanada) I've been away from Uniface for nearly a decade.  I'm trying to learn Uniface 9, and one thing I'd like to do is implement a form with two lists of text items (one on the left, and one on the right).  I want to drag items (records) from one list over to another, so that an item is either in one list or the other, but not both.   I've briefly tried looking through the Uniface "Help" document, but the variety of drag/drop implementations is overwhelming and I just need to see a simple example I can use as a coding template.   Can someone help?   Thank you.   Jack Eisenberg

Turn off thousands separator from NLS localeAuthor: mmontealegre@commandalkon.com (mmontealegre) We have had a recent project to turn our legacy application to start using NLS locale so that the decimal separator is comma for Europe and period for US.  For this we started using $nls_locale, previously we never had this set to anything.  Without this set there is no thousand separator, now with this set there is a thousands separator.  This causes a large number of bugs in our application in a large variety of areas.  Is there any way to just turn the thousand separator off?  Also wouldn't mind if there was a way to turn off the date formatting portion as well.  We have had a ton of custom logic dealing with dates that is stepping on the NLS in a large number of areas of the application as well.

[SOLVED] reg-free .NET COM with uniface on windows 7Author: wva@gypsilon.de (gypsilon) Hello My question is not direct related to uniface, but I hope that someone got a similar situation, and can give me some hints. I've got a .NET COM component, which I use as OCX-widget within uniface 9.6. This all works fine. The application runs on a server, and so each client needs to register (regasm) the dll. This I want to avoid, because there are lots of clients. So I looked in all the articles, which describe of how to generate a reg-free COM interop. I followed the steps, die generate a Manifest for the dll, added necessary manifest-Information to uniface.exe (I did also sign uniface.exe which doesn't seem to be necessary so far). After lots of experiments I've got it run on windows8-clients reg-free. Great! Unfortunetaly it doesn't work on windows-7-clients. I did also add the compatibility-switch in the Manifest of uniface.exe Uniface itselfs comes back with a -57, unif

Length of precompiler constant namesAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) as I have not found a hint in the documentation (so far): What is the maximum (netto) length for thisismyverylongname in the statement: #define thisismyverylongname I say netto because this name may be composed like: #define <$componentname>_<$entname>_<$modelname>_<$fieldname>_thisIsAFullQualifiedPrecompilerConstant which at the end would result in a 67 character name: #define myForm_myEntity1_DUMMY_PK1_thisIsAFullQualifiedPrecompilerConstant BTW: is there a limit on "nested" precompiler constants like: message "there is some value: <<$componentname>_<$entname>_<$modelname>_<$fieldname>_thisIsAFullQualifiedPrecompilerConstant>" Greetings from Frankfurt/Germay, Uli

char field defined Numeric Author: mail@gandg.it (TheAleph) Gooood mooooorning Uniface !! Today I fall from clouds when a user call and says "Why can I write chars in a number field, and when store got error ?" I say "No, in number fields you can't insert chars ....." ,  "Yes I do" is the answer. So I check and he's right. If the field is widget "Editbox"  it's possible,  if widget is Unifield not. I missed something? Thanks, Roberto.

Is it possible to use an invariant culture to pass data using XMLAuthor: mmontealegre@commandalkon.com (mmontealegre) We have a project where we are passing data to a reporting tool using XML. Currently our code sets the $nlslocale and does an xml save, like so $nlslocale = var_sNLSLocale xmlsave var_sFastReportXml, "DTD:DTDFROSCH.CMDSERIES" If you examine the variable you will see date/time fields are different if you change your nsllocale between US, Italian, Dutch, Finnish.  Our problem is for Finnish in particular, although I suspect some other European countries might have similar problems. In Finnish the date looks like such (notice the periods in the time)   <START_TIME.SCHD.CMDSERIES>27.3.2015 10.00.00</START_TIME.SCHD.CMDSERIES> According to windows it should be hh:mm:ss.  So on the reports side it reads the windows setting and using C# code the ParseDate function will fail.  According to Wikipedia, The 12-hour clock is used in
