Background color in rich edit box?Author: david.andersson@umu.se (DavidAndersson) Hi there. I was wondering if there is any way to change the background color on a rich edit box. Either via some sort of property or by RTF syntax. I use the field for highlighting some words in a text with bold font and red color (the user is not allowed to edit the text). The problem is that i can't get the rich edit box to look like the other edit boxes (that are non editable) in the application. I found out that i can make the field dimmed to get the grey color that i want, but then i cant use the scroll bar :-/. Any help would be much apreciated. /David Andersson ITS Sweden

Fatal error: 8011 - License not available.Author: gillian.bendel@frontline-consultancy.co.uk (gf07) I am new to Uniface and have installed a trial version of Uniface 9.2.02 Development on a Windows XP Professional SP3 PC. I have added my licence file to the DLM in the local environment tab. All the licence features have displayed ok (status is ok) and has an expiry date in September. However when I try to open any of the programs like Uniface Deployment I get the error "Fatal error: 8011 - License not available".. During installation I got the warning " An error occurred creating account for userver" and " An error occurred creating account for urouter". I am not sure if this is connected to the licence error or if it is separate. Does anyone have any suggestions please as to how I can resolve the licence error? Thanks in Advance

9.6 component level Defines triggerAuthor: zoltan.seres@gmail.com (ZoliZoli) Hi, I have recently installed 9.6.01 and tried to compile sources with "#define" in the component level Defines trigger but the following error happens: (FIND) 1 message/info (FIND) error: 1000 - Syntax error (Statement not valid) error: 1112 - Total Proc compile errors: 1. phase completed with error-code -1 If I move the #define statement into the Operations trigger then the compile is successful. The same component compiles without any error on 9.5.01. Anybody experienced such an issue? Thanks in advance, Zoltan

Upgrade Uniface 9.4 to Uniface 9.6.Author: sergio_enbe@hotmail.com (Sergio Encinas Benítez) We're planning to upgrade this month (July 2013) our version of Uniface from 9.4.01.01 (0302_2) to 9.6. We want to know some advices for us to be prepared for the migration of the forms, reports, etc. We currently have the UDE for Windows XP (1GB RAM 32 BITS) and now we're going to install 9.6 in Windows 7 (16GB RAM 64 BITS). We also use Citrix Server and our DBMS is Sybase 15.0.3. Thank you

hide columns in a grid widget uniface 9.6Author: ivanandradesantana@gmail.com (IvanSantana) Hi I'm developing an application where I am using a grid widget, and need to create a column hid, and not want to show on screen. How can I do this.

Columnwidth in tree widget. Author: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) When the tree widget list view column sizes are altered, it now fires an extended trigger called columnwidth. When I define the column sizes, using $fieldproperties("FIELD")="FORMATS=CL10·!CL25·!TC6·!TL17·!CL·!CL6·!TL17·!CL13·!CL25·!CL·!CL25·!CL·; LABELS=Reference·!Location·!CHS·!Due Date·!Owner·!Priority·!Date Last Amended·!Contact·!Stock Item·!Cus. Order Ref.·!Developer·!Tester" I have been using character counts. If I resize the 4th column in the tree the columnwidth trigger gets ID=3 (because 1st column is Id 0), and width=117. Does anyone have a good tip as to what one could do WITH this information to make it useful for the next time around, I'd like to store the user's preferences for column sizes and reset the column widths t

Sandboxed developmentAuthor: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) So it seems that most of us are using shared development, and I wondered why. We use a shared development repository because. - This is a godaddy poll, since we users can't generate one on here.

Save debugger‘s preferences file UDBG.CNF to the folder I wantAuthor: knut.ivar.alvestad@logica.com (knutia) I don't want the debugger‘s preferences file UDBG.CNF to be saved to my working directory. How can I decide the folder it saves it to?

transparent formsAuthor: lammersma@hotmail.com (lammersma) Most widgets on forms can be transparent. I want to go one step further and use transparent forms. Why do I want that? The Uniface application uses overlay forms. A large screen is filled with all kind of smaller parts. Users can 'build' their own screens, by selecting a number of forms. This dashboard works great (for years), but now we would like to pimp it and let users select an image as a background. Any suggestions? TIA, Peter Lammersma

Does it take longer time to compile if you have a lot of comments in the code?Author: knut.ivar.alvestad@logica.com (knutia) A slightly odd question, but is there any sense in that? Can I speed up my compile time by deleting old code and comments? I have a lot, in some cases much more comments than code

USEQREAD.DLL for Uniface 9Author: parcaya@compuamerica.com.ve (parcaya) Hi, someone knows if there is a USEQREAD.DLL updated version for Uniface 9?

Uniface 9 title barAuthor: None (None) The "Files" area contains an easy work around made by Daniel Iseli (thx!) from Uniface technical support. With this solution you can use the logical UDE_APPLTITLE in your assignment file to set the text in the applications title bar. This software is delivered "as is" no rights can be derived from it. Implementation in future Uniface version is considered.

Application written in Uniface 9 is slow to startup in CitrixAuthor: davidwarnke@cox.net (DWarnke) We have a customer who is running our application on a Citrix Server. If a user who is assigned to the Admin group starts up our application, it comes up immediately. If a user who is not assigned to the Admin group attempts to start up our application, they have a 2 minute delay. We are wondering if anybody else has had this issue and if DLM is at fault in any way.

Using $setting in 9.3 restricted in size?Author: anne_vw@telenet.be (anne_vw) Hi, we 're using next command: ; Zoek het printadres op in de beschikbare fysieke printers V_INSTALLEDPRINTERS = $setting("", "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Devices\\·*", "REGVALUES") With testing we noticed that the lenght of data returned with this command is limited to +- 300 characters. Te $setting is only published in version 9.5 we are on version 9.3 I was wondering if in 9.5 the returned data is also limited in size. We are planning to do an upgrade but if the problem is tha same we have to look for another solution for this one. Thanks Anne

Case in-sensetive searchesAuthor: sbpatel48@gmail.com (Sandip) Hi, We are using Oracle, and I'd like to carry out case in-sensitive retrieves. I've got part of the way there, by using : sql "ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP=ANSI","DEF" sql "alter session set NLS_SORT=BINARY_CI","DEF" However, this only works correctly if the complete text is typed, and doesn't appear to work if wildcard * is used. ie Value of the db 'TEST' if i type 'test' and retrieve i get back the 'TEST' record. Type 'TES*', i get the 'TEST' record back but if i type 'tes*, i don't get anything back. Anyone got any ideas, pls. Sandip

Tree widget columnsorted extended triggerAuthor: jsorongon@cayenta.com (jsorongon) Is it possible to change the list view display via the columnsorted extended trigger? i.e. rather than just sorting by the current column, we want the sort to include other columns as well. It seems as though regardless of how we change the list valrep in the columnsorted extended trigger, the display stays the same, i.e. only according to the current column and sorting order.

Uniface 9.5 installer. Author: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) When we are installing clients with Uniface to run classic client server, there appears to be no way to NOT install the urouter and apache tomcat servers in 9.5. I'm trying to set up a no contact install for clients, and it appears that I am going to have to install both these services, and then uninstall them from the services on the client machines. Also, it may be me, but it appears to install the DLM for every client as well, this seems unnecessary. (We use the $licence_options asn setting.) I'd rather not have these things installed at all, as that would speed the whole affair up, I am currently going to have to issue uninstall statements to get it all cleared back out again. Am I missing something?

Migration to U9.6Author: gerd.vassen@labsolution.lu (gerd) hello I have a customer who asked me if he can migrate to U9.6 and still use the archives (uar) that have been created with a U9.4 development environment. The reason for asking this: he wants to install a new site with U9.6 but still has archives that need to be maintained or an existing Uniface U94 installation. Is it really necessary to recreate the archives for U96 or can they still be used wihtout any risk ? thank you gerd

Uniface getting slow-motion with bigger StringsAuthor: hansen@ahp-gmbh.de (-GHAN-) Hi everybody, i'm using the uxmlwriter to create XML-streams to transport occurences from my Entity from one component to another. Works well so far, but as the number of records grow, uniface goes slow-motion! Retrieving a 1000 Records of an Entity containing 180 fields takes (on this machine) 1.5 minutes! The volume of the data is approx. 5.5MB. The Code does nearly the same as the xmlwriter does, so you can test it yourselves by doing: -[CODE follows]----- putmess "start : %%$clock" $1=1 while($1 < 1000) $2 = 1 while ($2 < 180) vString = "%%vString%%%XMLTEEEEEEEEEEXT"; ### simulating a XML-Tag $2 = $2 + 1 endwhile $1 = $1 + 1 endwhile putmess "End : %%$clock" -[CODE ends here]--- You now might say "Dude, get your data in shape! Nobody needs all these records ever!" and that might be true. (in fact i just got a call containing a similiar message. Thx 2 A.
